Embracing Diversity in Learning

Hi, I’m Fanný – a language teacher and thread-spinner.

Tunguþræðir means language threads, and that’s how I see language learning: weaving new words and ideas into your life, one strand at a time.

With experience teaching both children and adults, I work with a wide range of learners — from immigrants navigating daily life in Icelandic, to Icelanders aiming for smoother communication in English. I also offer French, especially for those looking to strengthen conversational skills in a friendly setting.

What sets my teaching apart is flexibility and realism. No one-size-fits-all textbooks here. Instead, I adapt each lesson to you:

  • Your learning style

  • Your work context

  • Your goals

  • And especially, your real conversations — those moments where you thought, "I wish I knew how to say that!"

Language should feel personal, doable, and even fun.

Qualifications

I moved to Iceland in 2008 and have gone through all the stages of learning the Icelandic language, I am now a student in primary school teaching at the University of Iceland with the goal of becoming an ÍSAT teacher (Íslenska sem annað tungumál).

I am French originally but English has been my main language of communication for close to 20 years and in 2024 I obtained a CELTA certificate, Cambridge’s Certificate of Language Teaching to Adults.
